Be Sugar Aware!
Tooth decay is caused by the bacteria in our mouths breaking down sugar in our diet into harmful acids. The more often we eat sugary foods, the greater our risk of dental decay!
The British Dental Association have published helpful advice to patients in combating the risk of decay in children (and adults too!). Their top tips for good oral health are:
- Reduce sugary snacks
- Brush Twice a day
- Use a fluoride toothpaste
- Visit your dentist on a regular basis
- Watch out for ‘hidden’ sugars in foods.
